Mercado Livre: the largest e-commerce platform in Latin America
Mercado Livre (MELI) is currently the big name in e-commerce in Brazil and throughout Latin America. In the fourth quarter of 2022 alone (from October to December), the company made a net profit of US$ 164.7 million.
Increased demand also requires increased performance
Since 2020, against the backdrop of Covid-19, there has been a growing trend towards online sales. Consumer behavior has changed: the search for online shopping and greater customer demand for responsive platforms, agile deliveries, quality of service and information security.
Conversys helps Mercado Libre to have more secure networks with Aruba Wi-Fi
In the midst of this Brazilian scenario of changing consumer habits, intense expansion of e-commerce and projected sales growth for Mercado Libre, the company needed to seek more agility, improvements in logistics and accelerated delivery to offer a higher quality service to its customers.
A Conversys IT Solutions and Aruba Networks, its world-renowned connectivity partner, were responsible for optimizing Mercado Livre's networks, delivering excellence and security to the connections between the organization's headquarters in Osasco (São Paulo), the service centers and the fulfillment DCs in Brazil.

Predictive site survey
The first step in developing the project was the predictive site survey, which is indispensable for any outline for creating or optimizing the architecture of high-performance Wi-Fi networks.
Conversys experts conducted studies and simulations to gain an in-depth understanding of the needs of the Mercado Libre and its users, as well as the processes that would be connected to this network.
From there, it was possible to define what would be required to optimize the site's wireless network, which solutions would be the most suitable and the quantities, positioning and configurations of each of the access points that should be implemented.
Technology selection
Since Mercado Libre is such an innovative organization, as well as the leading technology company in e-commerce and fintech solutions in Latin America, it was essential that the solutions and systems used in this project were at the same high level of excellence.
Working side by side with the Mercado Libre team and in partnership with Aruba, Conversys put together a customized architecture with APs for Wi-Fi connection and solutions for secure access control and remote network management and optimization:
- Aruba Access Points
- Aruba ClearPass
- Aruba Central
- ArubaOS 10
Implementation
Achieving fast, measurable and impactful results in IT projects depends not only on planning, but also on implementation. Expertise, proven practices, mastery of technologies and advanced support are of the utmost importance for success with new technologies.
In the Mercado Libre challenge, after the solutions and configurations had been defined, Conversys also worked on implementing all the necessary systems and resources.
The aim was to guarantee the excellence, speed, security and robustness of the wireless network and, at the same time, deliver versatility with a functional architecture.
"We've delivered a versatile project that doesn't require a large investment. Relocating the antennas is simple and management is remote." - Eduardo Primolini, Commercial Manager at Conversys IT Solutions
Mercado Livre is a pioneer in Brazil in using the AOS 10 Aruba Operating System
For greater performance and greater security in Mercado Livre's connectivity, Aruba Access Points, Aruba ClearPass for secure access control and Aruba Central were used to manage and optimize the remote networks in the cloud that connect the headquarters in Osasco (SP), the service centers and the fulfillment DCs in Brazil.
As a result, the new network structure has become capable of serving outdoor areas and supporting up to three devices per user - laptop, smartwatch and cell phone, for example - with mobility and secure access, including automation and Internet of Things (IoT) features.
Also as part of the project, Mercado Libre was a pioneer in Brazil in using Aruba's new operating system, ArubaOS 10. The implementation made it possible to manage all locations with enhanced security from the cloud with Aruba Central, as well as optimizing troubleshooting with Artificial Intelligence insights.
